The newly formed DENG Academy has tipped off with winning ways in both the Jr NBA League and Basketball England Dynamik National School Competitions.
I thought the boys showed great character even though they were down by a few points towards the end of the game. It was a great measuring tool for them to see how much they still need to work on. And even though they didn’t play their best, they still found a way to win the game – Head Coach Ronnie Baker
DENG Academy were drafted by complete coincidence as the Miami Heat in the newly formed Jr NBA League where their first rounds games took place on Wednesday 5th November against Atlanta Hawks (Raines Foundation School) and the Charlotte Hornets (Brampton Manor Academy). The first game tipped off against the Hornets where the Heat ran out comfortable winners 26-6. The second game against the hosts Atlanta Hawks was a closer affair where the Heat held their composure to close the game strong resulting in a 18-10 victory.
In the Basketball England Dynamik U13 National School Competitions, DENG Academy took on Bishop Thomas Grant at home in front of a well supported crowd on Tuesday 11th November. In a closely fought game throughout, it was DENG Academy who again finished strong in the closing minutes to bring home a 41-36 win with the star of the show being Mikaeel Muhammad finishing with a game high 21 points.
DENG Academy continue games in even more competitions where updates will be published soon.
