The Luol Deng Foundation began supporting the renovation of the Baac School located in Aweil East, South Sudan, in 2018. The school was built in 1972 by Luol’s grandfather Deng Akuei Ajou.

Our plan for Baac School included gutting, renovating, and expanding the building. We continue our support of the school by funding teacher salaries and providing school supplies.

Our hope for 2022 is to install solar panels, provide curriculum and training support for the school’s educators, and increase the number of classrooms and bathrooms. This is the first project, of hopefully many, future educational projects for the next generation of students.
